What are my chances Screw up in High School

I pretty much messed up in high school. Letting some courses kill my avg.
I wanted to know the chances of getting into these colleges were. I already got accepted into St.Johns and C.W post but I wanted to go out of state.

Stats.

W 490
GPA 2.4 Sad I know. Please don't bash just looking for somehelp
Got accepted to St.Johns on good recs, ECs and interview was really good.

Schools
Temple
UVA
WVU
Ohio State
Bowling Green.

If I dont have a shot at these colleges can you recommend some colleges out of state from the state of New York

Ohio State might be tough just because gpa is basically what makes or breaks you, it's a tough call. BGSU could be tough too. My sister goes there, and my mom went there. My sister too is black, had similar SAT scores, but her gpa was a lot higher (3.5). UVA...you basically have no chance. Just trying to be honest.

Thanks any schools you recommend with my stats

You have a good chance at liberal artsy schools and other places where they aren't so numbers driven.

I am afraid that UVa is out of consideration.
Ohio State is a reach.
Temple is a reasonable shot but not a sure bet.

It would help if you could expand on what you are looking for by going out of state.

I like st.johns but I just don't want to stay in New York. I want to go have the full college experience since I live 25min away from St.Johns living on campus would be a waste of money. I want to go to a college which has more than 5,000 people. No more than 12 hours drive from New York. Pretty Much undecided for major but leaning more towards sports management. I think I'm more of a suburban to urban person more than a rural person. I know I doubt i have any out of state safeties even tho Bowling Green was considered one by review.com for some reason. Thank everyone for helping me so far. Really means alot to me.

Then I think you definitely need to consider

Umass Amherst (high match)
Ohio U- Athens (match)
University of Connecticut-Storrs (reach)

SUNY College of Technology/Alfred (low match/safety)
University of Dayton (low match/safety)

Any Shot at West Virgina??

Yes, I think you have a shot. You really don't need safeties since you already (to your credit) have 2 acceptances in the bag. So you can afford to take some chances.

Try to use the motivation that got you the 2 early acceptances toward making a compelling case for attending some of these other schools. Pick only the few that really excite you.

I think you are infinitely better off specifically talking about Sports Management as a major then being vague and non-commital. It sounds like you have learned a valuable lesson from this whole experience as well. This, too, would be good to develop in your essay.

Thank You very much

I live in Columbus, and if you want to apply to Ohio State I say you have a 50% chance because I know Ohio State very well.. See if you apply through the minority department they will be leninet, and even though everyone keeps on saying Ohio State has raised it standards it hasn't raised them that much. My sister and brother both attend Ohio State, and we have a family friend that is in Ohio State through academic scholarship. Can you raise your G.P.A maybe to a 3.0? I mean you never know until you try.. Peace

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah my GPA for senior year is around a 2.5 one class holding me back.
