What are my chances? Thanks!!!

I am a high school senior in a very competitive school in California. I am American-Asian (Indian) and moved to America at the age of 8.

Academics:
My gpa is about 4.0 Weighted (and about 3.5 uw- a little on the low side)
I only took the SAT's once and received a 2260:
Math- 800
CR- 670
Writing- 790
Total- 2260

I have taken and am taking many honors/AP courses.

EC's:
Co-founded and was VP of the chess club in freshman year and am President this year.

Played two years of tennis for the school team.
I have played chess competitively since sixth grade and have received many awards. Some of them include:

Tied for 11th in World Open in 2006 and for 14th in 2007 in Philadelphia, PA.
I am currently ranked among the top 50 players for my age in the country.

Community Service and Work Experience:
Last summer, I when I visited India, I volunteered in an orphanage for a week, teaching children and playing with them. I also donated food, clothes, and toys, as well as as $200 of my chess earnings from tournaments.I lived with the kids there for a week and helped teach the children, play with them, and spend quality time with them. It was one of the most enriching experiences of my life (about 120 hours). I'm also writing my essay about this.
Helped teach kids in summer school in 2005. (80 hours)
Have taught chess (as a part-time job)
Currently have a job as a tutor at "Mathnasium." (10 hours a week)
Active volunteer in my local community for the city (40-50 hours).

I am leaning towards the business side, mostly finance and economics.

What do you think of my chances at the colleges I am applying to (please tell me if the school is a reach, a 50-50 shot, in my range, or a safety):

1) Emory University-applying ED, I really like this school (obviously, since I am applying ED lol)
2) Notre Dame- applying EA
3) Babson College- EA
4) Santa Clara University- EA; applying as a close-to-home safety

5) Washington University in St. Louis- really like this school too.
6) University of Pennsylvania
7) USC
8) NYU
9) Carnegie Mellon
10) Boston College

11) UC Berkeley
12) UCLA
13) UCSD
14) UC Davis
15) UC Irvine/ UC Santa Barbara

Thank you so much!

I like your chances at all of the first 4 schools. Emory is an excellent school for economics, my friend goes there now and is double majoring in physics and economics. While it is true that your gpa is a bit low, if you focus on your obvious passion for chess, your good scores and have a great essay or essays (I haven't looked at emory's supplement, is there an essay on it?) I think you have a good chance of getting in. Not sure of the influence ED has at emory though.
The middle bracket from 5-10 are going to be tougher. UPenn, obviously, but Wash U has just an 18% acceptance rate (don't be fooled by their absurd amount of advertising) I'd say you look a lot better there than the average bear, but not a sure thing and not as good as emory I don't think.

6 will be tough but the others look a ok.

here's me: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/580544-new-gpa-scores-georgia-tech-i-ll-chance-you-back-i-swear-3.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/580544-new-gpa-scores-georgia-tech-i-ll-chance-you-back-i-swear-3.html</a></p>

thanks...still looking for more plz...

bump plz...

Big fat bump

wow that's alot of schools. I'd say you have a very strong shot at every school, with UPENN and WASHU being more of a reach

Well, I think you have a pretty good chance at all the UCs mainly due to your great test scores, your passion for your main EC, and your presumably great essay on your work when you went abroad. You seem to match the bill for what the UCs are looking for.

Chance me back:

thanks guys...still looking for more...it would be so great if you could tell me chances (maybe in %'s) for each school.

if you're looking for percents, a good website is college.mychances.net

i practically live there lol!

thanks belle, i chanced you back... any others plz?

Bump plz...

I don't know much (since I've never been to America), but since I'm applying to Babson and NYU myself, I'm pretty sure you'll get into both of those. My test scores are 250 points lower than yours, and I'm applying to Boston College myself. I'm probably not very reliable about the rest, but Babson will definitely want you.

P.S.: Hello fellow Indian! :]

Wow... everything seems like a match except for UPenn... which i consider a reach for everybody but a select few

chance back- <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/586658-chance-me-low-gpa-above-average-sat-part-2-a.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/586658-chance-me-low-gpa-above-average-sat-part-2-a.html</a></p>

Is mychances.net really trustworthy at all? Because it has me at above 50% for a lot of the schools I think I should have little to know chance at. It gave me a 49% at Georgia Tech and Wake Forest which i think is ridiculous. It also gave me a 70% at UIUC with only a 20% at Syracuse. Free bump bro...

lol thanks nogpa. Yeah I thought the same. It gave me around 75% for Emory and WUSTL, as well as Notre Dame and Carnegie Mellon, but 30something% for Babson.

I would say your in all of them. Your GPA and test scores are solid for all of your college choices. Can you chance me back: What are my chances of getting into Georgia Tech?

thanks jjppaa. I'm not too confident about my chances for UPenn and Washington U. My gpa is a bit low. I hope I get into Emory though...
