@ylim9911:
No one, not even the adcoms, can tell you what your chances will be.
Read through the “decision” threads for this and past years. You will see those with academic and EC profiles stronger than yours who did not get accepted. You will also see those with academic and EC profiles far less than yours who did get accepted.
Do a search in this BC forum for posts by scottj. He does a great job conveying ideas for how one can improve chances.
I am also an Asian wo/us citizenship and got into BC few days ago. my sat is 2160 (superscore) and everything else (except the fact that my course load was little easier than yours but I got straight As until junior year… I don’t think that would make huge difference between our stats…) is very similar to you, so I think your chance is fairly good. Do you have any SAT subject test scores? I would recommend to take a few if you don’t have any.
Dear @ylim9911 : Your four year high school curriculum should include the most competitive academics within your academic reach in science, mathematics, English, Social Studies/History, and foreign language. To that end, I would examine your senior year curriculum to consider and AP Science and Calculus BC if possible. An AP English course would also improve your profile. With only one AP score (US History) it is difficult to make an assessment of your work, but a 3 in USH/AP is considered to be a weak score by Boston College standards.
Your ACT scores at 28/29 are below the 25th percentile of BC’s accepted students which places you in the bottom quartile. This will absolutely require your attention.
Missing from your profile are any sports and club leadership positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer). Sharing details on your choir program will augment your profile’s school spirit image so be sure that you focus on that element.
Finally, your junior year GPA looks to be down (B+ average, 3.3 GPA) and those numbers will not make the cut at Boston College where 85% of the freshman class comes from the top 10% of their high school classes.
In summary, right now as a junior, you should be focused on improving your resume over the next nine months before your applications are due. There is some work to be done here. Best wishes and stay focused!
