What are my chances to get into UT Austin?

How deeply involved are you in your ECs other than the Blood Water Mission Club?

I’d say low match in that case. Would you even want to be in, say, UT-Dallas or UT-Arlington if UT-Austin fell through?

If you are from Texas, probably not too high but from another state, you should get in.

I am an officer in Model UN, German Club, and LOVERS club. If I don’t get into Austin, I’m most likely going to go to Austin Community College for a semester or a full year, and then transfer.

@Texas: How does being in Texas hurt your chances? Obviously, they place higher expectations on out-of-state students than in-state students.

In state - rank mostly determines who gets in (60+ percent of all admissions at UT). OOS is more holistic.

In Texas, you need to be in the top 8% of your school to be an automatic in. So being in top 18% is a disqualifier and no one knows how good one has to be to make the cut in the holistic quota of admissions where they are considering attributes outside of the rank.

OOS students pay large amount in tuition and so they are given leeway in holistic process. The rank is not as much of a decider for OOS as much as the overall application.

Yeah, I personally don’t think I’m going to get in…

annadasz - I think you qualify for A&M auto in with your score and rank if you are interested.

And how would UTA treat non-ranking schools? Because there are lots of accreditated non-ranking schools whose students apply at UTA.

I know but I don’t want to go to A&M. Can’t imagine being an aggie and living in College Station…
