"What Are My Chances?" Transfer at UT - Liberal Arts School - Rant

Skip to second paragraph for main question.

Hello, I would just like to start off with a little discretionary tale for anyone applying to colleges; do not be like me, because I was an idiot I am in the situation I am in now - posting on a college advice forum to see if I might just maybe be able to transfer to UT after screwing up. What I did - and what many others might have also done - was that I applied to many private institutions that at best many would consider to be sub-par and because they were all private, and none of them really good schools, I am going to have to pay a lot for a year of school and hope to God I can transfer. So for the love of God just take into consideration seriously, scholarships (I did not, no one even aided me in these, nor did I know how to even sign up for them), the cost of college (state schools are so much cheaper, and so is community college), and academics (seriously be active in extracurricular’s and do not take your high school classes for granted like I did).

Okay now down to business, what do you, random person scrolling through this distraction of a website, think are my chances of getting into UT liberal arts college, and any advice or solace words of wisdom about financial aid in the case of a transfer to that very same institution? I am currently a high school senior who played around until this year so my grades - which are good, mostly A’s - are not up to scale with everyone else in the top 10 at my school because I was weary of taking upper-level AP/DC classes until this year. My SAT/ACT scores were mediocre at best, I only took each one once and I did just slight above the nations average (like upper 20’s for ACT, and 500-600’s for SAT); I was just wondering for someone like me, what are my chances to get into the UT as a transfer? Will I end up going for a longer period of time because I transferred?

Take into consideration I have done nothing but speculative or imaginative research - meaning I made it up in my head so I would feel better about myself. As I previously stated I’m barely a mediocre student, but I got accepted to St. Edward’s in Austin, so I planned to go their for a year and then transfer to UT - not because St. Edward’s is a bad school, it’s just 1) they do not offer my intended major (Anthropology) and 2) I personally believe UT - Austin looks better on a graduate/job application than does St. Eds. I got offered money to attended so cost isn’t really the problem, I am going to be living at home when I attend so the cost of campus housing does not factor in to consideration; even though I literately have just become some sort of opportunist who used this website as a way to vent about my problems - only partially - I really am just wondering if I keep up a good GPA - lets say 3.7+ - and attempt to do more with EC’s and internships and such, what are my chances of getting accepted as a transfer. Currently I will be leaving high school with 15-18 hours of college credit (depends on the AP tests), and from what I know when you are transferring you need at least 30 hours, does than mean I can only transfer as a sophomore or can I apply before I have finished the first 30, while I am still completing the courses my freshmen year. Also what does my situation look like for financial aid; take into consideration I come from a fairly (what am I saying, VERY) poor family so I have received full financial aid from the federal government (from FAFSA) at every school I have applied to thus far, but usually that does not cover the full cost of the college. Most of my St. Eds cost is covered by Merit scholarship, what are my chances of getting aid from UT, it’s about 15-20K to attend - take into consideration I will be living at home - so how much do you think I can get paid for me. Thanks, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask, my life is so hectic is stressful at the moment, I seriously had to revise this and pull a lot out, it was very long, I will not hesitate to talk about any of the other troubles going on at the moment.

Thanks for replying, you have been so helpful <333 ;/
