What are my Chances (UF/FSU) ?? Incoming High School Junior

Hello guys, this is my first time using this forum B-) If there’s any current UF/FSU students, can you tell me how good my chances are of getting into those colleges? These schools are my dream schools, but I also have backup schools just in case I don’t get accepted.

My plan:
I currently have a 3.69 Weighted GPA (I know this is really bad but PLEASE hear me out. I really didn’t take school seriously in freshman and sophomore year so that’s why it’s so low, but I’m going to try to get it to a 3.9 or a 4.0 since the classes I’m taking at a CC are weighted a lot. I already talked to my counselor and she told me that if I get no less than 3 B’s this year it’s possible.)
150+ volunteers hours- I volunteer at a local hospital and by the end of junior year I’m hoping to get another 75-100 hours, so by the time I apply I’ll have 225-250 hours.
I am going to join National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society (even though it isn’t really that big of a deal I know that I need a lot of extra-curriculars).
I also am planning to graduate with over 60 college credit hours and with an AA degree from a local college.
I also have started studying for the SAT and my parents are planning to hire a tutor to help me get the best score I can get on the SAT and ACT. The first time I took the PSAT I got a 1100 and my new score is 1350 (I know this is irrelevant but I thought I’d let you know) and I am hoping to score a +1400 on the SAT and no less than a 28 on the ACT.

My schedule for the next two years are all dual enrollment/honors classes. I started to do a complete 360 from the first two years of HS and I went from having all regular bs classes, to honors, and now to DE, so I hope that the colleges I apply to see that and take that into consideration when reviewing my application. I know these colleges are an extreme reach but these are my dream schools and my heart is set.

But if my plan doesn’t work out, I have guaranteed access to UCF, since the community college I go to works with UCF so as soon as I graduate with my AA I have a “direct connect” (what the program from the CC to UCF is called).

Also, do you guys have any tips to help me get into these schools? I don’t know if this matters or not but I’m a minority.

See the following link for admission stats for all 12 Florida public universities. It includes the middle range (middle 50%) GPA and test scores for admitted students at each school.

http://www.flbog.edu/board/office/asa/_doc/admission_2016/Matrix.xlsx

At UF, you’ll notice that the middle range GPA is 4.2 to 4.5. That makes the school a reach. If you have a great year and raise your GPA, you should apply and take your chances (it’s only a $30 application fee).

At FSU, the Middle 50% GPA range for the Fall admits is 3.9 to 4.4. A good year can put you into that range, and make it a match. However, notice what the range is for summer admits, it’s 3.5 to 4.1. You’re chances are better if you apply to Summer B (to start) and not Fall.

The spreadsheet also show’s the SAT test scores for admitted students.

At UF, you want to score on the RW: 640 to 720 and on M a 620 to 730. At FSU, you need to shoot for a RW 640 to 710 and M a 600 to 670 (for Summer B it will be something a bit lower).

None of the public universities in Florida can consider race in admissions. However, they do consider “First Generation”, if you are the first in your immediate family to attend/graduate from college.

Good Luck!

Thanks! This was extremely helpful and I appreciate how you linked the website that I can use for more information!
