I think I am going to apply early to Dartmouth and want to know if you think this is reasonable.

I attend one of the most competitive boarding schools which is very rigorous academically. We do not rank, but I think I'd be in the top 5-10%.
My credentials are as follows:
1440 SAT (660 Verbal, 780 Math) / retook don't have score yet
SAT II: Math IIC 770, Writing 720, Chemistry 710

Courses:
Junior year: AP US History, AP Calculus BC, Honors Chemistry, English III, Honors French IV (Year GPA: 4.0 weighted)

Senior year: AP Physics-C, Honors Multivariable Calculus (Calc II), AP English, AP Economics

Athletics: I am being recruited as a squash player, but not heavily and have been on varsity for two years. Will play at dartmouth and #5 on the coaches early list.

I was the captain of varsity tennis for two years and on varsity all 4

Other Extracurriculars: Head of WISE, Head of Math Team, Tour Guide Head, Head of Dining Room Committee, Vice President of Surfing Club, Dorm Prefect, Head of French Club

What are my chances?

Have you recieved a likely letter from the coach? This would baiscally tell you that if you were to apply as a recruited athlete for ED you would likely be admitted

Read the parents forum for the thread Div I sports or better academically.

Also check the old CC for post from Caseyatbat as her son is currently an 08 recruited for baseball at Dartmouth and she tells how the process worked with him. Also find the thread "The effects of Tags' on the parents forum (under old cc )

no i dont have a likely letter from the coach, i am #5 on his list but he can only guarantee it for 2 or 3 kids, the rest he helps but not too significantly
based on that what would say from chances are

Stat wise you are probably right in the mix. However the elite private school situation may be a little sketchy because of the level of competiveness with in the ranks.

Importance of Quality of High School

Does your school regularly send kids to Dartmouth? What are the other schools which they are admitted to?

Tyler_Young, how good are you in squash? Do you have a very high national ranking? How many years of tournament experience do you have? Because I play squash too - from Korea, 3rd in my province and top 10 in the nation. and will also be playing in international tournaments. ummm, did you send him a video? i've been in contact with coach power for a while, but i didn't take sat's and everything because im still a junior. What did coach power say to you about how good you have to be for academics? I think I can pull off similar SAT scores like you, but not gpa, mine is more like 3.4 or 3.5 unweighted. Hopefully you can get in this year, and I can join the roster next year. good luck

as for your chances, i think you have a very good chance because you're stats are competitive even if you were not recruited

I'm not a proponent of ED in general but if Dartmouth is your top choice I would definitely go for it. You wouldn't be making a mistake coming here.
