I think of applying to jhu (1st choice) northwestern (2nd choice), yale, brown, maybe harvard (but I'm not that interested)
want to do Biomediacal Engineering and possibly go into medical school.

Problems:
my extra curricular is lacking. not a lot of leadership/outstanding stuff. not a lot of volunteering either. and i only started getting involved in junior year.
Also, my teacher recommendations- i know my teachers and they know me (as a hard worker and such) but I'm not super outgoing in class. i talk in class but i don't talk to the teacher that much, such as joking or personally knowing them. so my teacher recommendations may be superficial at best (nothing deep/not a lot of anecdotes/stories the teacher can say)
Will this hurt me a bunch?
What are my chances?

Hello! Well, I got in the mid-low 600s for my three SAT IIs, got a 5 on my ap human exam, but subpar scores on my other AP exams (especially my chemistry exam…). I wasn’t president of any clubs and i didn’t have any awards. But, i had a great GPA (2 Bs throughout my high school career, took all AP classes junior and senior year), 2200 on SATs, did some research projects, and volunteered extensively in my community, and (in my opinion and the opinion of my teacher and friends) wrote some great essays. So, as you can see, I had strengths and weaknesses. You never know what top schools like Hopkins are looking for so my advice to you is:

work your butt off on your applications, try to find out what YOUR strengths and weaknesses are, and make sure to really emphasize your strengths in your applications! Not everyone is perfect and that’s okay! I tried my hardest to show my passion in my essays and make sure to get recommendations from teachers who also understand your passions, it really compliments your application, imo. Honestly you look promising, but i really cant say anything else since im not an admissions officer. best of luck!

oh and yes i did get into Hopkins, haha
