<p>SAT 1975
ACT 30
- i did a lot community service
- I was in the biotech club, spanish club, science club, history club
- i'm a national honor student of spanish
- my GPA is 3.8 unweighted
- i haven't took any AP classes
This is my junior year of high school and i would really like to get into Boston university. Anything i should do this year and my senior year? Im trying to get my License nurse assistant before i graduate and that class and i will need 2 years of health science. I'm also planning on taking 1 AP class this year and 2 AP classes, health science 2, and anatomy my senior year. I need anatomy my senior year so i can become a NH scholar which i think would be pretty nice to have. So probably a grad total of 3 AP classes. Is that ok? I leveled up to spanish 3 of which 2 years were in my high school and i'm not planning on going any forward because if i do i will have to switch out of an AP and i don't think that would look good. My school also does Block scheduling so we have semesters and all AP classes are full year.</p>
<p>I honestly don’t know much about this stuff and I didn’t read all of what you wrote (sorry) , but I figure anything is helpful. </p>
<p>-if you haven’t taken your SATs more than twice then I’d suggest taking it again (and possibly score a 2000-2100) </p>
<p>-become president of at least one of the clubs you mentioned (or vice president) </p>
<p>-do everything you can to increase your gpa weighted ad unweighted. </p>
<ul>
<li>I can’t remember I’d you said you took any APs … If you haven’t take a few (one or two if you’ve never taken them before) and if your school doesn’t offer anything than think about self studying either human geo or ap psych. If your really good at any other subject (bio maybe, or world history) you can always do one of those instead. </li>
</ul>
<p>-also something you might want to do is take the Spanish SAT subject test? (I know there’s one for French so figuring there has to be one for Spanish…) </p>
<ul>
<li>Hmm anything else…? Get good recs and good essays </li>
</ul>
<p>I don’t know how hard it is to get into boston university but this will definitely better your chances.</p>
<p>Hey (:
You have a pretty good application. Have you taken any honors classes? If you have, that’s great, but if not the rigor of your schedule may be a bit lacking. If there are other AP classes your school offers that you’d be interested in, definitely look into those. 3 AP’s is fine, but isn’t going to separate you from the masses in terms of schedule rigor. Of course, this also depends on how many APs your school offers–if there are only a few, that’s good. If there are a lot of APs offered though, you may want to take more.
Your SAT is good but not fantastic. You’re going into junior year though (was it a PSAT?) so you definitely have time to do a lot of practice tests and try again (practice tests will definitely boost your score!)
Community service is great, most schools love to see that. The only thing that I really see missing from your ECs is a passion. You have 4 clubs, which is good, and community service is great, but there isn’t really any one activity that stands out and shows what you love to do. Unless your community service is centered around one particular cause you are passionate about, you may want to get into something junior and senior year–art, sports, theater, dance. If you find something you love to do and are passionate about, colleges really love to see that. And hey, you also find something you love to do, so it’s a double win!
Your GPA is great! However, it also depends on schedule rigor–if you’ve been taking honors/advanced classes, then it’s much more impressive than if you haven’t been.
Next year, focus on keeping your grades up, improving your SAT score, and maybe try to strengthen your ECs by finding a passion (unless you already show one through your community service).
You have a good shot at BU with your current GPA and ECs. Your SAT score could be improved a bit, but you have time to do that.
Enjoy your last two years of high school and good luck with your college applications!!! :D</p>
<p>chance me back? (<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1385246-chance-me-promise-chance-back.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1385246-chance-me-promise-chance-back.html</a>)</p>
<p>I know this is no help but I am also a junior…Male…who would like to get into BU So Cool</p>
<p>Sent from my LS670 using CC</p>
<p>i’ve taken all honor classes since freshman year, and i community service is centered mostly around the hospital because i’m passion about medicine and helping people</p>
<p>im considering writing about my aunt who is suffering a severe form of Alzheimer’s and she partially the reason i got into neuroscience, the other reason is because i am fascinated about the spinal cord, nervous system and brain.</p>
<p>Your essay sounds like it has a fantastic topic, and relates to your passion in medicine, which is great! the focus in your community service is also good–it gives you a great passion and could also relate to a potential major, so colleges will love to see that.
Having all honors classes and a 3.8UW is fantastic (do you know what your weighted GPA is?)
Try to take more APs, that’s the only thing that’s keeping you from having a really rigorous schedule–3 is really the bare minimum, most students take more. Again, depends on what is offered at your school, but I recommend trying to take 2 your junior year and 3 your senior year if possible. Many of the kids at my school take 5 APs senior year, but we offer a lot of APs. So really depends on your school, but if they offer average/many AP courses, definitely try to fit more than 3 into your schedule.
I think you have a really great application and that BU would be considered a match school for you (especially if you can get that SAT score up!). You can definitely apply to better schools than BU and look at some good reach schools with pretty reasonable chances too.</p>
