What are my chances?

Hey there!

I would appreciate any feedback on my chances of getting into Lehigh University. I know that I am a long stretch, but it never hurts to try. I would be applying as a physics major. I am also considering applying early decision, but not necessarily, so if possible maybe give me chances for both ED and RD?

SAT Math: 640
SAT CR: 570
(I know these are really low, but in my defense I had a fever while taking the test. Also, I'm unable to retake it at this point but I, in practice, am scoring about a 28-29 on the ACT, so assume I were to get that.)

GPA UW: 3.30
GPA W:3.93
Class rank: 211/740

Rigor of classes:

A 1210 / 1600 isn’t horrible. However, you may want to consider retaking it or doing the ACT as you mentioned. A 29 would be a good place to stop at if that’s where you’re averaging - its middle 50th percentile or perhaps a little lower.

Your GPA (both w and uw) seems fine. However, your class rank is a bit shotty. I’d recommend for you to not put that on your application if your school will allow for such a decision.

You’re acedemic rigor is of course fantastic, you know that! 9 APs is one of the most I’ve seen thus far, and Lehigh will too take note of it! Continue to do well in your 6 APs this year (I too have 6 APs this year) and you’ll be sure to “wow” the adcoms with your continued dedication.

Assuming you have some leadership in any of those Extracurriculars, you will be fine in that regard too. However, if you don’t, you might want to really focus on your essays - especially the personal statement - to “set the scene” for your personal / cultural / acedemic career.

All in all, I’d say you have lower than average chances of getting into Lehigh. However, if you were to apply ED, I’d say you’d have a much better chance of acceptance. My last piece if advice is for you to show your interest! Visit, tour, email, and write a great WHY Lehigh essay!

Best of luck! Hopefully we’ll be the class of 2017
