What are my chances?

I have always wanted to go to BU and this may be a bit too early to tell but I just wanted to get an idea to see what I can work towards. I am rising junior at the moment and my career GPA is a 4.3. My sophomore PSAT score was a 1650 but I am hoping that it will go up after a prep course and more academic experience. By the time I graduate, I will have done at least 3 AP courses and at least 12 honors courses. I do a range of after school activities: french and german club, chamber choir at night, student run a cappella group, and I am joining model UN and mock trial team as well as hopefully SADD (students against drunk driving). I also will have danced for 8 years. I help out with a middle school a cappella group and also babysit. I have done an internship at my state house (hopefully I will have another internship at a lawyer’s office next summer). I am planning on majoring in political science and/or history. Thank you!

Also, I took a practice ACT test and got a comp score of 30

So far, your resume seems great. That is a solid GPA, your courses seem challenging enough, and you have a lot going on. I forget if you only need to send one of the two standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) or if you should send both but if you got a composite score of 30 for the practice test and can get it on the real one, I would suggest sending that score. That’s what I had when I was accepted. The SAT scores are really hard to boost. I boosted mine from around 1750 to 2030 only because I took classes. If you can, just use your ACT score and save wasting time/money.

Thank you so much! Do you have an advise on getting merit based scholarships?

I don’t have personal experience with merit based scholarships, probably because it is extremely competitive. I would suggest checking them out online. I took a look and it seems like there will be a lot of competition (BU is big and there are plenty of smart students) and/or you have to apply by a specific deadline to be considered. I believe I also saw one that you have to be nominated for. As competitive as it is, scholarships are always worth a try so just look at the requirements for each one.
