I have quite a few schools I've been looking at and for the last year UVa has been at the top of my list.
I also am interested in William and Mary, GW or American, the University of South Carolina, the College of Charleston, and the University of Maryland College Park. I'm also looking at GMU, JMU, or VCU but I'm not as interested in them...

As a rising senior...
My weighted GPA is a 3.78, unweighted is a 3.47.
I plan on taking the SAT one more time but as of now it is cumulatively 1800 on the 2400 scale.

My gpa has been a steady improvement over the last three years.
I took 1 AP class my sophomore year, 2 junior year, and am taking 3 senior year. Mostly honors otherwise.

I'll be on the varsity swim team from 10-12.
I swim for a private swim club.
I have a part time job as a lifeguard and plan to keep it through my senior year.
I volunteer teaching religious education on Sundays during the school year and participated in these classes up until my sophomore year.
National Honors Society 11th and 12th.

A lot of the schools I'm looking at are probably a long shot...in which case, where would you recommend I start looking into?

W&M: Reach
UofSC: Low match
College of Charleston: Low match
GWU: Reach
American: Match/High match
UMD: Match/High match
GMU: Safety
JMU: Low match
VCU: Safety

UVA: Reach
JHU: High reach
UMBC: Low match
UNC-Charlotte: Low match/Match
UNC-Chapel Hill: High reach (you may as well be applying to Duke if OOS)

If you were an out-of-stater trying to get freshman admission into Chapel Hill, then it would become about as hard getting into Chapel Hill as it would be getting into Duke and the relevant Duke unit for the intended major, as Duke has two admissions offices, depending on whether one wants to major in engineering (Pratt) or not (Trinity).

UNC-CH (in-state): Reach (but in-state is a lot lower a reach)

I’m from Virginia.
I’ve been trying to find more in state schools to look into but I haven’t liked most of them and on top of that I’ve been having trouble gauging whether a school (in or out of state) is a match or not. I don’t want to apply to too many reach schools and end up not going anywhere, but at the same time I don’t want to go somewhere I don’t match at all with.
