Hi, I’m a freshman and want to get into Barnard more than anything in the whole wide world! What are my chances?
Classes:
I take all HP except math, I’m only IM Algebra I.(however I am taking geometry over the summer to get ahead. In the summer of 10th I’m taking pre-calc, so I can be at the recommended level for students trying out for competive colleges.
I’m planning on taking as many APs as possible.
I have a 4.0 GPA, and I’m planning on getting an average weighted of 4.8
I’m already studying for the SATs and want a perfect score:)
Extra Curriculars:
Fencing for already a year(I’m really not good, but I enjoy it and I’m super dedicated.)
Youth and Government(planning on getting a leadership role)
I volunteer in a special education classroom.(The kids in there are so sweet!)
Feminist club(I’m planning on getting a leadership role in every club)
The AMMA project charity club
The African Library Project
I’m thinking of joining the debate club
Health food club
I’m planning on joining the student newspaper next year
I’m planning on starting a literary magazine for my school
I’m in teen court, but it’s only once a month.
I’m planning on writing an article for at least one major publication.
Other info that might affect my chances:
I can write a great essay!
I go to a public school
I’m Jewish
I live in California
I have an IEP because of my anxiety disorder and OCD.
Do I have enough or too much? Sorry for all the grammatical errors! Thanks so much if you answer.
Oh, and I’m planning on volounteering at Planned Parenthood this summer.
And I’m a legacy.
Okay first, BREATH lol your a freshman and its awesome you want to achieve so much but dont burn yourself out before you even get there. I say since its freshman year is almost over start look at the majors and programs Barnard has a pick 3 that you would absoulty love to go into. Then work yourself up from there. Make sure your EC’s correlate to what you want to do and you have a passion for it. Don’t do something just because it would look good. It seems like your into journalism so maybe focus on that? Overall, don’t burn yourself out, I did the same as you and my GPA suffered because of it. I picked it back up but it wasn’t easy. Relax, do what your passionate about and you will succeed, and ENJOY HIGH SCHOOL your only a kid once, an adult forever. <3
