What are my chances?

@josevi Oh, it is much easier to get scholarships based on your academic stats. Only consider athletic recruitment if you want to open doors at reach schools like UNC where you also need money.

If you’re a good player but not professional-level and plan to play in college, apply to D3 colleges. The level is decent. You wouldn’t get an academic scholarship but you’d get priority for admissions.

@gearmom Hmm ok, thanks for the advice.

@MYOSS1634 I don’t know how I would stand agaisnt the US soccer players, so I can’t really say, in Brazil I’m not in professional level for sure. Could you tell me some D3 colleges ? or how I can check this .

@josevi Look at the link I posted. It list all the schools and divisions.

http://www.scholarshipstats.com/soccer.html

Ohio Wesleyan, Trinity (TX), St Olaf (MN), Muhlenberg (PA), John Carroll (OH), Kenyon (OH), Case Western (OH), Dickinson (PA), Lycoming (PA), Wheaton (MA), Middblebury, Gustavus Adolphus (MN), Centre (KY), Pomona-Pitzer (CA), Emory (GA).
These vary greatly in selectivity but form a good list of safeties/matches/reaches.

@gearmom My bad, didn’t noticed the divions

@myos1634 thanks!!

Just be aware that D3 schools do not offer athletic scholarships so it won’t help you as far as paying for school. Also, D1 men’s soccer is extremely competitive, especially for scholarship money. It sounds like you are a junior, and many of the D1 programs with significant scholarship money are in the process of nailing down their recruits for 2016 already. The chances of a significant scholarship are very slim unless you are a very top ranked player. If you are currently a senior, than recruiting is pretty much finished for 2015.

@takeitallin I have already finished the High school, but I still looking for the universities and I only intend to get into a university in 2016, so I’m still getting everything ready for apply in the end of this year.

@MYOS1634 in the earlier replies you said that a 8 in Brazil is roughly 3.8-3.9 in US system, that would be in a 4 scale ? if yes, in any future post or chat I could say that i have at least 3.5 GPA ?

Yes you can. According to ISEP, an 8 is AT LEAST a 3.8.

@myos1634 I’m really REALLY happy with this… thanks!!!
