Hi everyone. Im new here so i havent really figured this all out yet. But ive been extremely stressed between Junior year of high school, my Debate team, and work. And now is the time when i need to step up and do great, but i feel myself falling short. As i said, im in the Debate team, and we have a policy at my school that we can only do activities like that if we maintain a good gpa. Im confident that i can keep that up each nine weeks, but i dont know what any colleges will think. So let me give a record of my school performance.
In MIddle school, i took all pre ap classes. I did fairly well every semester.
In Freshmen year, i did pretty well, and my average was probably a 3.5 gpa
Sophomore year i really slipped. My average was about 2.7 gpa with AP world history. But id also started doing Debate and became the captain. Im horrible at Algebra and Algebra killed me. I was a year ahead in math though. I had decent grades but Chemistry, pre ap, also killed me.
And now, junior year. i know its still early on but i am BEYOND stressed and exhausted. we got a new debate coach and a new team and less time to work, so we’re pullling extra weight. i work every weekend about 15 hours total at Sonic. And im taking 5 ap classes. AP Chemistry, APUSH, AP Psychology, AP Art history, and AP lang. im also taking debate the class, computer science and math, as well as statistics. And right now, i think i have 2 a’s. Debate and Lang (though my lang teacher doesnt post to edline so i dunno really). Everything else is crappy. As in D’s. And an F in AP Chemistry. Chemistry is legitimately hard though and i struggle (but as a science magnet student i have to take it). Statistics will be fixed because i used a crappy calculator that didnt know PEMDAS, so my teacher is fixing my test score since id originally put the right answer. AP Art is going to be fixed because id emailed my teachers a few assignments and she didnt look at them. But using an online GPA calculator, i determined that if my grades increase the minimum i will allow them to, i’ll average with 3.75-4.00/5.00. Right now its at like 2.25. But after this year itll be SO easy, because ill be done with history, math, and just need science and AP literature and whatever else. But my DREAM is to get into a film school somewhere. My question for you all is how are my chances looking at getting into any college? i took the act in 7th grade and scored a 21, and get to take it for free this year and estimate ill make a 26ish.
And sorry its so long, im just so stressed and need real help or motivation or whatever.
Given that you are new, I am going to try to run down what you need to do to get chanced; don’t take it harshly.
Middle school activities and coursework only counts for foreign language credit and algebra credit to get you into the high school coursework.
Don’t list anything from middle school. Middle school doesn’t matter; the grades don’t matter unless there is a prerequisite for a high school course. Why would you take the SAT in middle school???
People have not responded to your post because it is one long jumbled paragraph that is incomprehensible to read.
Are you a junior now? You rambled, so I didn’t read most of what you wrote.
Cumulative GPA is what? Do NOT include any middle school grades.
SAT’s or ACTs are currently what? No current SAT, no chance of chancing you.
EC’s are what? make a list. Do not include middle school activities unless you were a National champion in something and even then, it would have to be something extraordinary (like: you were a star in the Harry Potter films)
Repost and separate your paragraphs so that people can try to figure out what you are saying. Essays play a big part, so if you are writing like what you’ve posted, you are going to need some serious help.
Where do you want to go to school?
Are your parents capable of paying for your education?
Make it readable,please
I would advise that you step down to a less competitive schedule. Talk to your guidance counselor and work together to de-stress your schedule. it is better to do well in less competitive classes then to drown in APs. Most colleges are not very competitive. But, high school is more than simply prep for college. you have two years left of high school. Make them good years. Have some fun. Find what you really love. Take down the stress level by getting out of classes you know you will sink in.
