Well said.
What year are you in? Where do you actually intend to apply (or have you applied)?
@DadTwoGirls 11th. And I want to go to UF, UCF USF OR FSU but idk if I’ll get admitted.
Hello, Your chances are really low for Harvard, Yale, and JHU for sure. Try to get some safeties and targets in too.
@John Thomas Yeah I figured. Thanks for the advise I’ll try to aim for some safeties that Im sure I can get into.
you have a shot at UF, UGA, UCF, FSU, and USF (though not necessarily a good one)
Also forgot to mention that I won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry LOL just kidding I’m too dumb to win that. Chance my friend too.
I think that you should try to get your SAT scores up. Have you taken SAT classes and/or tutoring? A bit of this can help quite a bit. Just taking the SAT for a second time usually helps some, but you will probably do better if you can get some practice first. You might want to do some SAT preparation over the summer, and then take the SAT as soon as you can in the fall, so that you have time after you get your scores to consider universities.
There should be multiple very good schools for a student with a 3.01 UW GPA. Harvard, Cornell, and Yale are not them.
You should keep ahead of your work in high school, pay attention in class and do as well as you can, and find universities that are a fit for you. After retaking the SAT check the 25th and 75th percentile of the incoming students at each university that you are interested in. Personally I would skip anything for which your SAT is significantly below the 25th percentile. This is as much for the sake of “keeping up” while attending a university, as it is for the sake of applying where you will get in.
Also you need to pay attention to the cost of university. You should try to find at least one university (preferably two) that you are very likely to get into, you would be willing to attend, and you can afford.
You guidance counselor at school should be able to give you some ideas.
