My goal is to get into UCLA, UC Berkely or USC, but I want to know my chances for the other UC Schools to
SAT: 1410
GPA: 3.68
Side Note:
My 9th grade grades are straight up awful. I was in Hong Kong in 9th grade, and Hong Kong academics are pretty tough. Will my chances lower if my 9th-grade grades are bad?
I have a lot of extracurriculars, volunteer work, and work ( paid ) experience.
I don’t have any awards besides basketball.
I think my personal insight questions are decent, not top notch, but hopefully memorable.
Major: I want to major in Psychology, I’m taking AP Psych at the moment. My alternative major is Sociology. I’m hoping to get into law school after I graduate.
Thank!
UC’s do not include Freshman grades in their GPA calculation, however USC will which puts you below the UW average of 3.8. UC’s will still look at your Freshman grades to make sure you have completed the a-g course requirements with a C or higher.
Here is the UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Post Capped Weighted and Fully Weighted UC GPA.
In Hong Kong, I had a D in Science. It wasn’t a specific science course it was just science in general, but in my current high school transcript, instead of it saying D, it says Passed. Can I still apply?
I just looked at my transcript and for all my 9th grade classes instead of a letter grade it has a P.
To use the Science course to fulfill one of the a-g course requirements, you may need to have a letter grade. Have you taken or will have taken at least 2 laboratory science courses by the end of Senior year (Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics) preferably all three if you are targeting these top schools?
You may have to have your counselor explain your Freshman grades. Although they are not used for the UC GPA calculation, passing means a C grade so this maybe acceptable for applying since you are were out of the US that first year.
