what are my chances?

my name is Nick and I am currently a junior in high school
ive had somewhat of a dissapointing record of grades in the past
i failed spanish 2nd semester of freshman year
and failed chemistry and alg2/trig both semesters sophomore years
i have retaken these classes the following year and in summer school and recieved an A in all subjects
other than those classes, i have been passing with A's,B's, and the occasional C

im not trying to get into a top school, but i do want to get into Cal State Long Beach or something similar, im still looking
dont get me wrong, im very smart...and im confident I will get at least 2000 or higher on my SAT's due to my PSAT results, SAT practice tests, and countless hours invested into studying.

right now I have a GPA of about 2.5, but it will only raise because of the grades im currently getting, and im confident that my future grades will be positive
im hoping by the time i graduate i will have a GPA of at least 3.1 or 3.2
so what are my chances?
or should i just give up and go to a community college?
is there anything I should do to ensure my position in a cal state?? your opinion is much appreciated

Hey, nick. If you keep your grades up, you have a decent chance of getting into cal state Long Beach, especially because you have been receiving several A’s. If you score around 2000 on the SAT, this should also significantly boost your chances. My best advice would be to get as many As as possible this semester and do the best you can on the SAT. If you live in the area, you could also look at Cal State Fullerton or even San Diego State. You should definitely not give up. If things don’t go well, you can always go to a JC for two years and then transfer. However, I think you have a decent chance of getting in as a freshman applicant. Best of luck!
