Hey!

I am going to major in computer science/ engineering
Colleges that I am considering are...
Reach:
- Harvard, Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley
Possible: (but still very hard)
- Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, U mich, U Illinois

Hmm. It's a good idea to take the SAT again. Your scores now are low (though not horrible) for all of these schools except Illinois and maybe Mich. You really want to get the CR score up. Also, take a 3rd SATII; a lot of colleges require it. I'd recommend taking something that's not math or science to show intellectual breadth.

CMU is a decent bet if you DON'T apply to study CS, but as their CS program is in top five in the nation you have little chance in that field.

Harvard, Stanford, MIT- far reach (going to reach if you can get a ~2200 SAT and write a good essay)
CMU in CS - reach
Berkeley, UCLA - match-reach
CMU non-CS, Michigan - match
Illinois - safety

Have you considered RPI (safety-match, no pun intended) or Georgia Tech? Both are very good tech schools that you have a decent chance in.

Also, a lot of colleges best known for liberal arts have fine engineering schools - to give a semi-random example, Rice. Check into them - there are things between Ivies and pure tech schools.

UCLA: Reach (out of state)
UCB: Reach (out of state)
Stanford: Reach
