My name is Emir.I'm 20 year old student from Bosnia.Next year I was planning to move either Cornell, Columbia or NYU.before I start, just to say that I'd appreciate any kind of assistance, and don't hasitate to comment this post,please..

First of all, just to point out some of the things that will deff.increase my chances:

-very good grades back in high schools, lots of awards, and support from all of my current proffesors at my local Uni of Economics
-proffessional swimmer for like 10 years, and in that time I've achieved very good and impressive results as well
-next week I'm finishing one and only CISCO academy, which means I'll be a network engineer
-spend 3 years in a national choir
-lots of international sport experience

those are some of the things about me.so,tell me what do current students think about me getting financial aid,and scholarships as well.

Know that Cornell and Columbia are hard schools to get into and NYU has many kids applying for them. If you’re applying for the fall of 2010 entrance, also know that the graduating class of 2010 is the biggest in the history, so there will be a lot of competition.

Financial aid is granted on financial situations (look for FAFSA?) and scholarships are based on merit and financial need. So use that to guage how much financial help you will receive.

As for chances to getting in, we’d have to know more about your grades, and if those are the only extracurricular activities you have done, while they are impressive, they are very few in number. I suggest you try and get more in.

Overall, I know I’m really harsh. And I know I haven’t given you a definite answer. But we would have to know more about your academics, previous college, and activities to help chance you for Columbia, Cornell, and NYU.

First of all,I would like to thank you for giving me these information.Even though I’m completely aware of the fact, that there are plenty of students across the globe who are applying to one of these schools,I’m not that worried.
Since,my No.1 preocupation is going to be education,I don’t think that applying for sports scholarships is wise,so I was thinking more of educational ones.
I haven’t done SAT’s but, from those preparation books that they gave me,it shouldn’t be very hard. You see, over here our professors generally concentrate their-self on theory.that’s why we haven’t got much of a experience until we actually finish college, and get a job…and mainly because of that, our knowledge is very wide indeed.
Please,I love harsh discussion…I’m like that,and I expect the same in return…
