What are my shots at getting into a good school?

Freshmen Gpa: 2.8
Sophomore: 3.0
Junior: 4.0
I also just took the sats and scored a 980. I plan on studying this whole year and retaking it next year.

I am involved in the Key Club, and attend a votech school where I am studying Pre Engineering. With my grades so far should I just attend a community school first and then transfer? I honestly feel like I have no hope in the college world and I don`t feel like I am good enough. I would really like to get a scholarship is that possible?

Home State?
College Budget?
HS course rigor?
SAT subject Tests?
Intended major?
Private or Public?
Rural/Suburban/Urban?
Small/Medium/Large?
Specific Geographic locations?

Plenty of “good” schools with your upward trend in GPA but you need to be more specific. Your SAT will make top schools pretty much out of Reach.

You should aim to make your post more specific (as the comment above me suggests). You should definitely retake the SAT to try to offset your earlier high school grades. Beyond a certain point the SAT score doesn’t mean much, but a 980 leaves much too low of a first impression.

However, your vast improvement across the 3 years of high school is promising, and an unique experience that you may be able to explain in your essays (any special circumstances, etc).

Good luck!

Plenty of good schools out there that will take a student with your grades trending that way. Studying for the SAT and bringing it up would help too.

What can and will you and your family pay each year for college? Some family and school background would be helpful. Trying to see if you qualify for financial aid. What schools are local to you? What school do you know will take you? I like to build these things with a firm base with that certainty before going into possibilities.
