Does NYU’s on campus recruitment program help you get internships at Wall Street firms? Even for an Econ major? Would the on campus recruitment program help you eventually get a job in Wall Street?
No. They arrange for banks to visit, but they don’t help you in any other way.
NYU Stern in particular has a number of clubs and organizations that provide good access to Wall Street, but the biggest advantage you have when going is that banks think the school is great and want students, so they go to the campus and recruit. This is by far the most used way to get into the most prestigious Wall Street jobs (IBanking, Private Equity, etc.). However, the vast majority of their recruiting is reserved for Stern students. This means if you are in Stern, you have incredible opportunities. If you aren’t, you’re still in New York City going to an incredible school, so you can find ways in, you’re just going to have to network and work harder, or maybe try to transfer.
You can go through on campus recruiting from CAS, even if it’s mostly Stern. I know people now working, if not exactly on wall street, for major consulting firms from CAS Econ and politics.
