For the record, my brother chose Duke over Berkeley(in state), Brown, Chicago, and Yale…idk about it isn’t being prestigious.

Btw, does anyone have the full list of PA scores?

IMHO:
Tier 1: HYPSMC
Tier 2: Lower Ivies, Chicago, Duke
Tier 3: JHU, NU, WUSTL, Michigan, Berkeley

"turned it down for a public university (in England.) "

Amm…Cambridge and Oxford are technically public universities, as well as every university in the UK
If you turned down an offer from Duke, and choose Oxford or Cambridge instead, that’s absolutely understandable, and most people would do that if they have the money But the notion of “public university” is quite different in the UK than in the US…
Anyway, I suspect Duke would be much more prestigious if it would be an East Coast uni, not a Southern one… the location have not much to do with academics, still

in my not very fact based opinion

Tier 1: HYPSMC
Tier 2: columbia, upenn, dartmouth, uchicago, duke
Tier 3: cornell, brown, northwestern, john hopkins, washu, tufts, notre dame, rice, vanderbilt

Using something like this as a measure of prestige is sort of the utmost is tacky, lesdiablesbleues. Very nouveau and arriviste on your part.

And U Michigan does have more “social prestige” than UVA in many parts of the country. I’m a huge UVA fan myself, but that’s how it goes. Of course, being secure, that wouldn’t prevent me from choosing UVA over Michigan if I were so inclined. I can see how an insecure person might actually look around and care what others think when choosing a college. Being insecure isn’t “prestigious,” you know.

lesdia, you are again so far off here that it is not even funny. You really have to stop putting Duke in the HYPSM mold. It is no where near this group.

Portfolio, are you JohnAdams12?
If so, just FYI my nephew is enjoying his first year at Princeton (he is in a sport) and my twins each got into their ED schools. If not, ignore this!!
