I'm not looking for the top-notch ones, I do not have the stats for those (GPA 3.5, 1250 SAT, etc...) , so just looking for some average schools with top PJ programs, a few that I know are Ohio, RIT, Western Kentucky, are there any others that are decent?

University of Missouri - Columbia!

Syracuse - Newhouse
Ohio University - Scripps College of Communication

My S took a summer photojournalism program at George Washington U, and here are the schools the experts recommended: Missouri, Ohio, Boston U, Syracuse, Western Kentucky, Arizona State, and UNC Chapel Hill. I would add the University of Texas-Austin and the University of Florida. RIT's program is good, but was not oriented enough toward liberal arts for my S. Ditto art schools like the Corcoran School of Art & Design and others.

Check the Hearst awards site and see what schools the winners come from: http://www.hearstfdn.org/hearst_journalism/competitions.php?year=2007&type=Photo Look back in the archives for previous years, and you'll get a good idea of what schools are producing award-winning student photojournalists. (And their work is really impressive!)

According to RIT's Photojournalism website, "Ten of our alumni have been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for photojournalism."

geezermom, was it Arizona State or The University of Arizona that the people at George Washington U recommended? I've heard UA was good but not much about ASU.
