I have a 3.4 GPA, and in terms of acting schools I obviously am applying to mostly competitive programs, but I don’t want to risk getting into no good acting schools. What are some colleges that have a good acting program but aren’t super competitive?
Hofstra is a good safety - you start out majoring in BA Theatre (no audition needed), and then audition for the BFA at the end of freshman year (and if you’re not accepted into the BFA, you can stay with the BA).
Brooklyn College, SUNY New Paltz, and Adelphi are auditioned programs that are are somewhat less competitive than most (not “safeties” because they ARE auditioned, but with higher acceptance rates).
Drew University is a BA program with no audition that is often spoken of highly here.
Muhlenberg has a non-audition program and is highly regarded. It’s not an easy academic admit but definitely worth applying to. I second Hofstra as well. Also look into DeSales.
