What are some of your dreams & aspirations? How do you want to 'change' the world?

^I lawled.

^^I’ve been doing that for years, all to no avail. :(

^@Ksarmand: LOL. you’re like one of my fav. CC posters…after PlattsburghLoser  (not to sound weird/creepy)…

Ah Ksarmand, you have been relegated to that dreadful second place. So close to success that you can physically feel it, but the shortened height of your place on the podium causes the reality that you have failed to come crashing down.

^^PlattsburghLoser’s posts are awesome. :)

^So? I’m chill with being second, especially having been subject to that nasty grade trickery in my school that caused my rank to magically change from first to third.

A quick step-by-step:
1.Graduate from Wellesley with my BA in an area that interests me (Philosophy or History, and a minor in Education)
2. Attend Columbia or Harvard Law or Harvard Kennedy or Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson depending on whether I want a law degree or a MA or PhD in Public Policy.
3. Get married and/or get a job, depending on my husband’s income and the overall situation. Also have children!
4. If I practice law, it will ideally be in labor relations or intellectual property. If I’m heading down the Public Policy path, I would like to influence educational policy on a significant level (through work for the federal government, a major urban school district, or bastions of higher education). My other area of interest is venture capital and investment in new technology and ideas.
5. If I have earned a large enough income and invested wisely, I would like to retire between 40 and 50 and get involved in VC.
6. Continue to live a happy and fulfilled life by giving back to those who have supported me and by leaving the world a better place than I found it!

After my BA in Political Science is completed in 2012 at UNC-CH, I hope to be awarded some prestigious scholarship–while a Rhodes scholarship would be ideal, a Fulbright is much more realistic. Then, I’d like to attend an Ivy grad school for my JD/PhD. Attending an Ivy has been a huge dream of mine, but I was rejected from both Brown and Columbia as an undergrad. I think I’ll start off as a practicing lawyer, working in the civil rights sector. If not starting out as a lawyer, I’d like to work for the UN. I want to get married to someone I truly love and then have children–my absolute #1 dream is to be a mother to happy, healthy kids. Hopefully I’ll be able to take some time off to be a stay at home mom until my kids are off to school. Then, I’d like to be a college professor, which is my ultimate career goal. My college professors have inspired me so much that I dream of doing the same. In between all of that school and work, I really just aspire to be a happy woman who is impacting the world in some way (even if I don’t know exactly which way that is yet).

So many dreams and aspirations, so little time…

Well, I have a few plans for myself. I actually just decided that I’m not sure what to do as my main career, but I of course have a few odd dreams I want to accomplish.
I want to be…
-an author
-a photographer
-a magazine columnist
-an editor at a publishing company
-a publicist
-a personal shopper/wardrobe stylist
-a zookeeper
-a hydrologist
-a scientist studying penguins in Antarctica
-a professional organizer
-Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel

It’s a random list, but hey, that’s me. Although it would be amazing to cure cancer or to save lives, i truly want to do what makes me happy. And everything listed above would do just that.

So, does anyone know of a major for an animal loving, penguin obsessed, slightly OCD, fashion conscientious, photography addicted, and outgoing traveler who has a way with words?

hey high school life natives! I’m here for the featured thread.

I don’t have any interest in changing the world, so I will definitely be one of those people all of you are influencing in your jobs where you are trying to convince people to do/believe stuff. I’m proud to be among what the BP rep called the “small people.” you will also be glad to know that I am very easily persuaded.
as for me:
I want to live near home, get a job that hopefully would be related to the college degree I’m currently completing (half way done!), but maybe not if they’re not hiring. just having a BS would probably be useful. plus I’m totally not averse to any kind of one-year-or-less accreditation classes at a community college or something.
if I am feeling more ambitious I could maybe get a masters degree but I’m not that enthusiastic about the prospect, and attending grad school without nearly fanatic devotion to the subject is a risky proposition (at least for me). I’m not ruling it out yet though, because I could become really captivated by something I study in the next two years.
the fun stuff: there are a couple countries and regions of America I would really like to travel to someday but I wouldn’t push that - if the opportunity arose I’d be sure to take it but I’d much rather use any discretionary income to help some local causes I have supported in the past. I do not want to marry or have a family, but I would definitely want to live in a relatively safe neighborhood and maybe somewhere where I could keep a garden.

I soooo much love dreaming about future possibilities, it’s the most brilliant fun! :D

attending Yale undergrad => grad school => high-paying job, make enough money for me to “retire” => return to my musical passion, perform as a soloist and affect people that way :)

but alas, it’s just a dream. probably.

Make people happy and continue to learn new things for the rest of my life.

I’m kinda thinking I might end up as a teacher or a professor.

I wanna be a billionaire, so bad.
Buy all of the things I never had.

Well ideally, I would like to be able to work full time for a charity like Africare or Amnesty International, but I still do want a decent income. So I was thinking about becoming a lawyer for the ACLU so I could still be practicing law (which is my goal in life), but I would be helping people at the same time :)

I want to decipher the mystery that is HSL.

Well, I plan to go to a good college and get a Bachelors degree in Premedicine or something along the lines of that, maybe Biology? After that, I plan to get accepted into a medical school. I want to be a doctor. I’ve always wanted to help people, so I think that being a doctor would fit me and I think I would have fun being a doctor and helping people.

But, before going into a college I may join the Peace Corps as a volunteer or something. :)

My dreams and aspirations may change through the course of my future career but at the moment I hope to visit third world countries/ impoverished areas in the United States and emphasize the need for cleanliness and advise on human sustainability. The most renowned illnesses of the world are actually prevalent because of the lack of knowledge amongst people. That need’s to change.

My dream is to marry a prince and live happily ever after.
Is that so difficult? =)

The current aspiration is “Rosalind Franklin in a post-feminist era.” [grin] I can dream.

I want to

 • fall in love
 • get a Ph.D
 • become fluent in at least five languages
 • become a best-selling author and/or win a major literary award
 • become a cultural icon
 • earn lots of money and build an architectural wonder of a house
 • start a dynasty
 • spread glee and well-being throughout the world

Start a company, become Iron Man, then scream thug life and empty the clip

Princeton 2014
