What are the advantages of self studying?

I'm planning on self studying for AP Psychology next year. So what are the advantages of doing it, besides learning the material of course.

I assume it doesn't give a huge advantage as almost everyone does it.

ap psych is so easy, just do it, it shows initiative, althoug the colleges will know that ap psych is very easy (biology + common sense)

it's better than doing nothing, or watching TV, or being on CC :)

Great point. I didn't even think about it from this perspective. Wow, Thanks :)

Just been thinking...How hard is World History? (I LOVE social studies btw)

A few kids at my school self-study for World History. I'm sure it's as hard as any history AP, with the exception of European History.

There is an excellent Time-Life series that should be available through the public library. It's called "Time Frame...".
My kids self studied for the World History test with this as the base. They scored an 800 and a 790.
I would supplement with Kaplan/Princeton Review materials.
If you can't get the Time-Life series through the Library, I would try getting it through Amazon or Barnes and Noble, used books.

Looks like our public library does have them. They are books right?

Thanks for the info!

They are VERY entertaining! Doesn't leave out the pithy, enjoyable reality of history. I would suggest reading through them this summer.
Do NOT take notes. Just enjoy.

Thanks for the help danas. I LOVE History so I'll enjoy them naturally ;)
