What are the best aspects of majoring in ECON at Cornell

Hi there,

I am applying to Cornell this year to major in Economics. I recently read a number of posts about the major, and I saw most people strongly criticize the Econ department of Cornell, saying that it is overly theoretical. Many recommend to pursue an AEM degree, but it is impossible to major in both Econ and AEM at the same. I am interested what are good aspects of the Econ at Cornell, and how one can use this university to become very competent in Economics in the future.

I was wondering this too. Why does the Econ department have a bad reputation even though I heard it is one of the most popular majors in Arts and Sciences.
