What are the best college themed movies?

Most definitely Animal House. The quintessential college movie if you ask me.

I liked 21, but I’m not so sure it’s a college themed movie. Accepted, imo, was okay. I didn’t enjoy it too much because I watched it before ED results were out, which only added more to the freakishly high level of stress :p

I know its more about the last summer of High School than college itself, but American Graffiti is like my favorite movie ever.

And how about Star Wars? I mean, it’s not about college, I know, but a lot of people in college have seen it. And George Lucas went to college.

Star Wars is exactly like college

How High with Method Man and Red Man

Also, “senseless” takes place in college. Someone mentioned “roomate” and then I thought of “sorority row”.

“Mrs. Washington goes to Smith” Cybil Shepherd goes back to Smith college as an adult student who had dropped out 20 years earlier to get married. She lives in the dorm, etc. This might be a made for TV only movie, but it re-runs often.

Since people are just saying whatever they want…

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air episodes when they are in college

Boy Meets World episodes when they’re in college  And I have to say, the crappy dorm Shawn and Cory have when they first move in is probably the most accurate-looking college dorm I’ve seen on tv/film. I hate it when students on film always have these really big, super nice rooms with painted walls. Oh, and then they always have the rooms all to themselves.

And someone mentioned the show Community. Definitely Community!!

Star Trek

Ok, so it doesn’t take place at a college, but it reminds me of college. I went to MIT–sometimes people dressed as Star Trek characters.

This one dates me, but if you’re a movie buff, you might like:

Carnal Knowledge (with earlier Nicholson, Art Garfunkel, & Candace Bergen). 2 Amherst ugrads who have the hots for the same coed.

I thought Accepted was going to be so stupid, but it ended up being hella good. And it didn’t bring up any anxiety for me because I have been going to a JC for five years, haha.

Also: Mona Lisa Smile! I love that movie.

Another one to throw in the mix is “The Sure Thing” (1985) with John Cusack as a college freshman who travels cross country over spring break to meet “The Sure Thing” played by Nicolette Sheridan.

Accepted :)

Paper Chase, no question

ivygeek,
Of course “Risky Business” was a classic. The part my husband still hates is when Tom Cruise says “Well, it looks like the University of Illinois!” H is U of I grad and S almost went there. Actually, these days it’s fairly tough to get in, especially for business and engineering. My son knew some kids with teriific numbers who were rejected. But, still, it isn’t Princeton.

Definitely second accepted.
