I attend a very small but very selective school in NC. The coursework is very advanced, I would enter as a freshman taking honor precal, honors chinese 2 or honors spanish 2, honors chem, or physics, etc you get the idea. I read the warning not to give too many details. My concern comes from not one student/ graduate has ever branched out to the HADES before. Some have attended NCSSM, but what do you think??
Thank YOU

@gorillaman: Two of my best friends from college (U Penn) went to Exeter (albeit decades ago). One from Myrtle Beach SC (not exactly anyone’s hotbed of culture and scholarship) and the other from a rinky-dink town in Iowa. They both participated in Duke’s TIP program, and went on to Exeter. If they could, you could…

Keep in mind that geo diversity may be on the mind of many admission officers. I know it’s a factor for colleges, so why not BS?

I think you should also look at St. Andrew’s in Delaware and Episcopal High School in Virginia.

…and Mercersburg in Pa. Don’t limit yourself to the New England schools.

I’m sick of these chance threads. I mean no offense to you gorilla but why bother with this? It doesn’t matter what random people on the internet who could be lying about everything that they say they are think. It matters what you, your family, and admissions officers think. Chances are a bit unpredictable, as I didn’t have that much going on for me but I still got into all but 1 of my schools (WL), but the opposite can also happen. But all I can say is that I think you are a strong candidate.
If I may ask, why do you want to go to boarding school?

I’m from North Carolina too! I’ll PM you about it since I don’t want to share too much on here

gorillaman, it could be that not many students from your school have applied to boarding school. It could also be that NCSSM is an amazing option for kids from NC, so many of the best candidates choose that instead later on in their high school years.
What is missing for you in your current day school? It sounds like you are getting plenty of academic challenge.

Another major plus for NCSSM: it’s free, unlike any private boarding school.
