What are the chances this happens?

How come the number of applicants to colleges stay around the same each year? Like how does the number of applicants to Penn stay around 4,000 while other schools like Princeton stay around 2,000..

Well, people think it is more difficult to get into Princeton. So they end up applying at schools of a lower calibur (in their opinion, not mine) like Penn. They think as it is a less selective school they will have a better chance of getting in here rather than Princeton.

Yeah I know that much, it's just weird that 2000 people want to go to Princeton a year and 4000 want to go to Penn. Trends are weird.

no its not that only those people want to go there, it is those people who think that they will get in that apply. I want to go to harvard but why waste the money if i know im not going to get in...

exactly ^

and then theres the fact that our (i mean penn's) student body is much bigger than those other schools. so they accept around the same number of kids ED than pton (and other smaller schools) accept both rounds.

I HOPE SO MUCH that the Penn apps. drop or even stay the same!
If a genie popped up and said, "Would you take the Penn apps for the early round to stay the same or I go away and what really happens happens?" I would go ahead. Because, realistically, Penn apps. are going to go UP!

If a genie popped up you could just ask him/her to admit you into PENN. ;)

When I called the regional admissions officer - he briefly said that there were around 4000+ applicants (early), so you can count on it at least staying the same or increasing.
