@lostaccount - and I would imagine a large number are not only in the top 10% but were valedictorian or salutatorian.
@lostaccount
Haha, thank you so much. It’s actually not the only school I’m interested in.
Thanks for your advice.
I do mean Harvard, but perhaps the site I found it from was lying.
I’m surprised however that most Harvard kids were always at the top.
I’ve never heard of this other college.
Thank you for your advice!
I’m not sure if I’m the most talented. I finished with an A- in AP HG, but the rest of the class finished with B’s out of around 40 students. I go to an online school.
We don’t really have achievements. We have clubs. We have gifted programs. I have gotten in. Though, nobody ever says who finished at the top.
This is also my first year back at school.
@Falcon1
Thank you so much!
@Friolero you need to be able to market yourself. Position your strengths and personal narratives that makes a member of the admissions committee fall out of their chair. Say wow we really need a kid like this one.
Good point. Well, I’ll do my best. I’ll try to keep my GPA up and finish with the highest grade in my class at least. Like I said, we don’t have any who is the top kid achievements while teachers will tell you who finished at the top. So, maybe I’ll use things like clubs, community service, teacher’s notes, etc, to show I was a good student. I also just got news that I probably got an A in psychology and the computer made an error. Which means I’d only have gotten a C in the first semester of my AP biology class!
I was also thinking I’d start getting into building robots again. I’ve been interested in it for awhile and I know how to build off the basics. Something like that might sound appealing. I don’t really have time for things like the science bowl or the math competitions. Though, maybe I can get involved with some research of some sort.
All the advice on here has been great! I’ll also look at other colleges. I have several in mind. Harvard is mainly the one chance school I thought I’d have a chance at. I don’t have to coolest classes on schedule right now, but I still have two years left and three summer schools to take cool classes. This is my first year back since I couldn’t go to 9th grade, so wish me luck!
