Also, just to make sure, besides the question above, the Biology 121 and Chem 101 books are Campbell’s 7th edition “Biology” and Zumdahl’s newest edition of “Chemical Principles,” respectively, right?

math 104/114 uses stewart's calculus 5/e
not sure about phys 101/102...
phys 140/141 (and 150/151) uses young + freedman's university physics volume 1+2, 11/e

and you are correct about bio 121/122 and chem 101/102...

textbooks often vary between semesters and professors, so what I usually do is pay a visit to the Penn Bookstore, copy down the ISBN numbers of the textbooks I need, then buy them online. if that isn't an option, you could call or e-mail each department (since you don't know your professor yet) to get more info

the Phys 101/102 books I used this year were Giancoli 6th edition, volumes I and II

http://upenn.bkstore.com/

They list all books by courses.

Thanks for the link, it helps, but in relation to jylee2's response: I would really like to get the books and study this summer because my school has not prepared me as well and I know that without the studying this summer, I won't be able to perform well at college-level. So, if all semesters and professors are different, should I just get the books anyways and learn from them, regardless of whether I will end up using the book for class?

Ooo! Another thing: is the Phys 140/141 (150/151) book this one: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=080538684X&TXT=Y&itm=2. Because, the books designated vol. 1 & 2 are paperback and older editions.

yes, that's the current (11/e) phys 140/141 - 150/151 book; the bookstore sells softcover, so it's cheaper, but less durable.

114/104 regardless of professor is Stewart's 5th Edition, I'm pretty sure. It's a decent book. The one sold at the bookstore comes with a Maple CD and Manual. The Maple CD is more or less needed though, so I might recommend buying from the Penn Bookstore online.

98% of the time, the books are the same for all professors in math/sci intro classes. Sometimes they change books, but that is not very often.

I have a 104 book that I could sell to someone. Although I won't know until August or so if I will need it anymore for 114. So, if you want a cheap book, contact me by August via PM.
