I know dorms are really central to your social life/ campus life, so how are they? And are male visitors allowed in the dorms if they're visiting?

The dorms vary a lot in terms of style, room size, location, etc. Overall they are nice, and the college has been pretty good at doing renovations–for example updating bathrooms that had become rather grim. Realize that Wellesley’s NEWEST dorms are now 60 years old–so if you are going to compare them to some of the luxury <5 years old dorms that have been popping up on many campuses, you will find them lacking aside from their greater character. My family home is quite nice and I never found myself put out by my accommodations at Wellesley, for what it’s worth.

Popular to contrary belief, Wellesley is not actually a prison/convent/etc. You can have whatever guests of whatever gender for whatever period of time (well, you really aren’t supposed to have overnight guests for more than three nights, mostly out of respect for your floormates/because your boyfriend doesn’t get to MOVE IN to the dorms, but there isn’t a guest police!). The only rule about guests (again, all guests) is that they cannot move from one floor to another without you as a chaperone. Again, that is a rule formed out of respect for the dorm community so that there aren’t strangers wandering around the dorms alone. In reality I think we probably have fewer dorm rules than most colleges, especially given that the ones we have are governed by the honor code as opposed to a tangible entity.
