Also, if I dont pass some of my AP exams, is that really bad?

UC system has a policy to not count low AP scores against you (so no, it's not really bad if you fail the exams). However, a 4 or 5 may improve your chances!

You have a good shot at getting accepted. Try to pass your AP tests you get elective credit, but if you fail one it's okay. I always hear some people get obsessed with getting all 5s, that's not necessary to getting accepted into UCLA. You have some decent ECs, keep up the good work and don't drop any. Concentrate on essays this summer, they will make or break you. Focus on one or a few topics rather than trying to write how good you are at everything.

Flopsy can comment more than I, but UCLA gives each application 3 different ratings- academic, extra/leadership/comm service, and life challenges. Having just gone through this with my d, I would add that for ucla, there are academic factors that play a role beyond fully weighted GPA. I do not know the relative importance of each, but it is clear that they do look at:

fully weighted AND Unweighted gpa

semesters of uc certified honors/AP/college classes 10-12- this one seems to be key- avg this year was 19-20 (count each semester as one and college courses as 2)

semesters of uc certified high school courses 9-12

semesters of senior year honors/ap/college courses

They DO give some kind of consideration to ap scores- and its on the application for you to put in your scores

another note- you have great ecs so no worries, and at the UCLA welcome day I heard the Dean say that 94% of admittees had done community service.

I was accepted this year with a 4.08 GPA and a 2220 on the SAT (780 and 750 on SAT IIs). Your high GPA makes up for your SAT score and you've got pretty good ECs. Raising your SAT to above 2100 will definitely help. All things considered, you've got a good shot.

Since you are only a junior, I would definitely take the SATs again. Most improve even w/o a lot of prep. My senior D took it a 3rd time in Jan, and improved her overall score. Sent it to UCLA and was admitted with a 4.37 and 2140, plenty of ecs. It will not hurt you to score lower, and I doubt if you will or it will only be in one section.

i have done a few community service things, for example, i tutor another student in chemistry regularly and i volunteer at the boys and girls club.

also, i am putting together a huge charity even this summer to raise money for needy families in OC. may sound hard to believe, but there are some cities in OC where too many of the families are on welfare.

"Also, if I dont pass some of my AP exams, is that really bad?"

It doesn't make too much difference... I actually did terribly on most of my AP exams and I was still admitted... ('terribly' as in only passed two, if you say 3 is passing, out of the 6 AP exams that I took in HS)
