What are the necessary things that I should bring to R-day?

Okay so far, on my list are:

compression shorts

lighter

flashlight

sports watch

neosporin

Face cleaning

Leatherman knife

Maybe:

 1. Sharpies?
 2. Duct tapes?

Any suggestions?

So far I have heard definatly Sharpies! and they said alot of duct tape is very useful! Also they've been saying blister bandages!

Do not take over the counter medication....

I've gone through all the information that i can find on this site and this is the list of stuff that i am going to take with me.

lighter
flashlight
sports watch
leatherman knife
Sharpies
Duct tape
mole skin/blister band aids
sock liners
prepaid phone card
baby wipes

my memory is that OTC meds were fine, but there is no need to take a prepaid phone card. new cadets are given one call home per detail (one call in the first half, and one in the second half) and these calls will be made on the cadres cell phones. they can also use the phone when they meet their sponsor. aside from those designated times however, new cadets are not allowed to make phoen calls.

If you take any kind of wipes, like baby wipes or wet ones, make sure they are unscented. These are a little harder to find, but the last thing you want to do is attract bugs!

Don't worry about bringing duct tape. The CCC will have plenty of it for you guys. If you do decide to bring it make sure it is the military style (either 90 or 100 mph tape) and not the grey type.

Aut the phone card? I had three people come back from WP and told me that i needed to have it. One of them was even a member of the cadre last year.

aut = are you sure about*

not sure why that happened, o well :)

A land-line based phone that can be used in the cadets' rooms is issued during Re-Orgy week. The phone cards are needed to call long distance from these phones. The problem my cadet had with her land-line is that there is a PIN that is needed to call out, and she was never able (probably didn't look very hard) to find someone who knew what that was.

Understanding that most cadets have cell phones, this may not be needed. On the other hand, the reception for cell phones is sometimes not very good, a phone card is relatively inexpensive and may come in handy - for instance when the cadet is stuck at an airport and the cell phone battery goes dead. ;)

"my memory is that OTC meds were fine"

Unless the instructions for candidates booklet has changed, and I don't believe it has, the section on Pharmaceutical Care gives these specific instructions: "Do not bring non prescription medication with you.....Any non prescription items you bring will be confiscated and later destroyed. We will provide all non prescription items you need."

Of course candidates can choose to ignore this instruction in the hope that the cadre will not find out....but that is not a good way to start off....
