I know that acting and musical theater majors at many schools are incredibly hard to get into, and people advise applicants to apply to large numbers of schools, but I am unclear as to the odds at various tech theatre programs. which programs are highly selective? CMU, Tisch, UNCSA, CCM? What are admissions numbers like at other places? Are there places that can be considered “matches” other than the non auditioned schools?

Just anecdotally, over the last 4-5 years, tech candidates have tended to get in everywhere (well, maybe not everywhere, but into lots more programs than actors). I think you’d be fine with fewer schools, say 6-8, as long as you have one safety.
