I know Davis says to bring an Ethernet cord, but don’t the dorm rooms have wifi too? Why would we need the cord?

Cologne? I see someone has plans, lol.

From what I heard, not all Dorms have WiFi, particularly the old ones. And they suggest an Ethernet cord because it’s more stable. Aside from those negatives, I heard that Davis dorms use T1 internet, which is like super duper fast. Or so I’ve heard.

girls, don’t forget your pads/tampons

HAHA, just thought i’d throw that out there…~ sorry guys hahaha

Ahk Bait, got it.

So about the laptop lock, what model did you guys get/where? I could only find one at my local bestbuy. Bought it, THEN looked at reviews. Apparently the combination drifts and will eventually end up locked permanently… So I’m taking this thing back, but I don’t know where else to buy one.

Any suggestions on where/what to buy in terms of laptop locks?

I just ordered a keyed laptop lock from amazon today. The brand is Kensington and it got really good reviews. I previously bought a combination laptop lock from Targus, but returned it after seeing reviews that said that it resets itself. Laptop locks sold in stores are really expensive, so check out Amazon!

Yup, ordered a Kensington Microsaver Keyed Lock (:

except I have no idea how to attach it to my Mac…

Yeah plushminkie, I think I had the same Targus lock you had. My problem is that the lock on my laptop isn’t standard, it’s extremely small and requires a 2 mm thick cable. I haven’t even found a 2 mm thick cable let alone a keyed/highly rated one.

The other problem that with a 2 mm cable… it could go snip snip pretty easily :frowning: but its all I can use on it if I can even find one.

Any of you look into LoJack for laptops? xD

To be honest, if a thief really wanted to steal your laptop, they’ll find a way to do so, regardless if you have a laptop lock or not. But by just having one attached to your laptop, you discourage many of them, particularly the ones with no experience in breaking laptop locks.

No lock is foolproof, just make sure to get one that fits and doesn’t “drift”

Yeah that’s true, it’s just a visual deterrant…and only a backup if you aren’t vigilant. But the slot on mine is a nonstandard triangular lanyard style double opening, so there’s no lock actually available for it, lol.

PS: It’s also for my own peace of mind :D

im gonna use baaitsbilly’s list as a guide since i havent put much thought into what ill bring besides essentials

A smile and an open mind :)

oh wait… i didnt see a costco size box of trojan magnum condoms on the list. guess i have to remember those :D

lawls @ simpsonman

I think the smile and open mind will go alot further than your costco size box.

“A smile and an open mind”

If I could “like” this I would. haha ^.^

Leaving your door open to all. That’s what I’m doing!
