What are you doing this summer?

In July I’m working as a counselor in a sleepaway camp for children and adults with special needs (Down’s syndrome, autism, etc). It’s on the grounds of a regular summer camp, which means that we’re able to integrate the campers into the regular program to an extent. It’s an amazing, amazing experience- this is my second year going and I wouldn’t replace it with anything (though I had an opportunity…).
I really, really need to find a job for August, though. I’m just slacking off a bit about actually applying for any. No matter what I end up doing, I’ll also be spending a lot of time packing for my study abroad next year.

Doing research at Columbia, prepping for the SAT and AMC, tackling my pile of summer homework, marathoning shows on Netflix.

Doing stuff at Caltech, prepping for SAT…AP homework, attempting to go to NYC again (probably won’t)

So I’m a rising college freshman, but I actually don’t start college until February because I’m going to a school with a gap semester program. I’m going to Spain and spending two weeks with family. Then the goal is to work myself into the ground 40+ hours a week until September when I leave to volunteer in Southeast Asia. I got a scholarship for the program there but airfare, vaccinations and spending money (plus spending money for Spain) is pretty much going to exhaust my savings. When I get back I’m going to work like crazy in December and January as well, then head to college

Bump.

I’m still undecided about my summer.
