I considered taking the day off on Monday, but then I realized that I'd be letting this decision impact my life far more than it should.

amen to that!

Haha OneKing, that question is totally going to be on the test.

OneKing; does he barely make the loop? hahahaah. Physics. So not funny.

Let's do math problems! This was on my take home test that was due today:

If v(t) = (2sin(2t), 3cos(3t)) and p(0) = (2,1), find the first time after t = 0 when p(t) is its closest to the origin.

Hm, yes, areyouserioussss. That math question sure does look like fun.

Luckily I've got Calculus to keep my occupied. -_-

^ Ah yes, how would we all live without calculus?

I have a calculus test tomorrow.
Worst day of my life.

Actually, no.
But seriously, these next ten days are going to be among the worst of my life.

That is a calculus question. You need to integrate the velocity function to get change in position.

I'll integrate your velocity function!

I'll freaking nDerive it on my calculator!

Anyways, anyone else going O.O at the Dartmouth decisions?

Quote: "I'll freaking nDerive it on my calculator!"

But you can't! I'm a Weierstrass function! ;)

Actually, that's supposed to be the comeback to the age-old pickup line "I wish I were your derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves"
If you don't know what a Weierstrass function is, it's a type of function that is continuous everywhere but differentiable nowhere :)

Oh yea, OneKing, I've been astonished by the numbers I'm seeing on the DM thread...It looks like all the people with high SAT scores are getting rejected, and people with relatively lower scores are getting accepted! It scares me a lot. O_o

This is just so nerve-wracking, looking at all these posts! But I can't. Tear. Eyes. Away!!

Note to self: Why the _______ did I try to get a high score on the SAT?

I'm kind of relieved to see that SAT scores did not factor in too greatly for who was accepted and who was rejected. Albeit, my ACT score made up for them, but I thought the strength of my application was in many of the subjective things, including my essays, short takes, and recommendations (which were given to me).

Good luck to everyone on the Day We Find Out.
DWFO?

What if those Dartmouth applicants are just screwing with us? We should find the relationship between SAT scores and honesty lol.

The correlation coefficient between SAT scores and honesty is -1.000....

uh oh....

The cumulative distribution function of me getting 2400 given +365 days without practice and frankly the probability of getting an answer correct out of 5 answer choices is .2, independent all the way, then

X 365 366 367 368 369 ...
P 0 0 0 0 0 ...
CP 0 0 0 0 0 ...

given that X represents the number of days until the first correct answer shows up, I conclude the mean of 0 and standard deviation of 0 for the normal distribution of the nationwide fellow CC junkies out there (we add up to nothing and we are no different: no offense).

The above geometric function along with ridiculous math and rambling narrative depicts that taking the SAT after a year's absence of practice has no chance of improvement whatsoever, and I had once foolishly thought I could get a 2400 but then I realized that I also had what's called a life.

Cramming stats, lit, bio, and gov tests tomorrow has apparently addled my brain. (this is btw strictly stats, bad stats obviously). I'll be doing something like this when I get home on the 15th because life is no fun.

^ Haha I read the first 3 words of your post and skipped the rest. I've had enough of math for today -_-

limetime, weierstrass function, seriously? can i give you points on this thread? like +12089417928469182649182649216421 :D you just made my day. actually my best friend getting into brown would probably make my day, but this was a close second. :)

hahaha thanks, Pianista! :D I didn't know if anyone else would pick up on the whole Weierstrass thing. XD

Anyways, I'm really liking how as time progresses, there is more distance between the actual topic and the topic discussed. :P
