What are you guys majoring in?

My thoughts exactly. I have no hostile feelings towards teachers; in fact, both my father and grandfather were university professors at some point, and my aunt currently teaches biology at a community college.

@ Salve- me neither. But teachers are routinely underpaid, under-appreciated, and over-worked. I can’t explain it either.

Computer Engineering!

Economics/IR

I’m going to major in International Studies and maybe minor in Global Cultures or Urban Studies.

Boring Biology.

I’m a '15er but I’m sort of between Chemistry and International Relations. I’m leaning toward Chemistry with a minor in East Asian Studies (wanna learn Chinese :P). Not sure if that will change by the end of my freshman year though…

^^ Uhh waitwut?

Oh, maybe you’re doing something boring like Pre-med. I guess that would make sense.

Biology - concentration/specialization either in cell/developmental or ecology/evolution/organismal.

I have over a year before I need to apply to college, but I’m deciding between the Classics/Latin route or the Psych/pre-med with an eventual med school Psychiatry residency route. Kind of a big difference, but like I said, I’ve got a while to choose.

Career-wise, Latin seems to be kind of an iffy stand-alone major. Also, due to budget cuts, I may not be able to take Latin in my junior and senior years (I am currently in Latin 2) so I’d end up with an unwanted gap between my high school Latin education and my college Latin education.

Overall I think I’d rather major in Latin, but I’d really be completely happy studying either one. Then again, I could always do both considering Latin is used in the medical field :)

^ Anddd what does one do with a major in Latin?

^ Go back in time…?

nah, I don’t know, I’m gonna be a mechanical engineer major.

Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics, Double Major

Management Information Systems

If it were ever to change, it’d either be Information Technology or Business Administration (but MIS combines the best of both worlds).

How the heck do you get annoyed by someone’s choice in major…?

Wow, a lot of math/science/engineering types here… far more than I expected, actually, and I expected a lot… o.o

Statistics, Math
+
Finance, Accounting or CS (minor or double major)

I also want engineering to be available. Systems Eng. is somewhat interesting.

@Cody2010- I knew someone would ask. As part of a double-major path, it’d probably be used with law or medicine. By itself, a classicist or Latin teacher is pretty much it I guess. That’s why I’m not all too fond of the idea of majoring in JUST Latin since it has such limited career options.

I forgot to mention that I find chemistry oddly fascinating. I’m not sure if I’m cut out for a career as a research scientist, but it’s still a possible major.
