What are your college pet peeves?

people who seem to have never learned how to properly cross the dam street.

stop

look to your left

look to your right

if there’s cars, see #2. If there’s no cars, walk forward.

^ drivers who never learned how to yield to pedestrians

or who don’t know the importance of following a low speed limit on the main street that goes through a college campus

oh drivers are suppose to yield pedestrians in the middle of the street is it? I though that only applied to stop signs. Sure that makes a lot of sense. Have the cars go from 25 to 0 so the person can trudge along while the cars pile up.

It’s also super annoying that cars in front my me make a full stop at stop signs when it’s blatantly clear there’s nothing to stop for. Call me crazy, but none of this makes any sense.

Not enough sections of required classes.

the meal plan — ugh everything is overpriced! i’m guarenteed to be out of points at least a few weeks before the semester ends… It would make sense if the price matched the quality, but it sure doesn’t

people talking in class always decide to sit around me… and the bad part is that i’m in a huge lecture hall with a professor that mumbles into the mic so it’s hard enough to understand him, but now i have to try to decipher what he’s saying over 3 people in front of me talking…

“oh drivers are suppose to yield pedestrians in the middle of the street is it? I though that only applied to stop signs. Sure that makes a lot of sense. Have the cars go from 25 to 0 so the person can trudge along while the cars pile up.”

In Maryland and DC, cars must stop for pedestrians who are in a crosswalk. It’s probably similar in other states.

Judging from your post, maybe you shouldn’t be driving.

^DC Hurricane brings up a good point.

On a separate note - one other thing that bothers me is registration. They added another section of the class I wanted after I had already registered. Meaning I had to go back and change my entire schedule to fit it in. Oh well…

If a group of students/tourists walk across the street in a crosswalk, the car should stop. I’m not against that.

But if a guy talking on his phone blindly walks into the street without scanning the street, that’s plain dumb. He’s either stopping traffic or he’s risking his life to a driver who might not even notice the crosswalk, especially if the driver’s blinded by the morning sun.

As a biker, you always keep your eyes peeled. There’s always someone who doesn’t look. As pedestrian, you should have the same common sense.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree that pedestrians have a major responsibility in safety. All users of the street do. But while you may have the right of way outside of a crosswalk, your ultimate responsibility is still not to turn people into pavement paint.

People hitting snooze their alarm clock at least 5 times before waking up.

ISUClub, i definitely agree. I always double check even just to make sure that im completely safe. I dont want to risk my life at hands of others. But some people are just dumb lol

People stopping into your room constantly. I can only study in the library.

“People hitting snooze their alarm clock at least 5 times before waking up.”
my roommate does that, except he doesnt hit snooze unless i yell at him. im not sure if just sleeps right through it or doesnt hit snooze. sometimes it hell set it like an hour before he has to get up.
also i forgot one, probably my biggest. a roommate that go complain to the RA about something before talking to me. at least he’s trying to move out next semester

My roommate puts her shoes on her desk. I’ve reminded her it’s bad luck, but she still does it sometimes and it gets me itchy. I’m not super-superstitious, but I don’t like to invite trouble.

^lol’d 10char

There is a person on my floor who borrows my toothpaste for days at a time!!! It’s ridiculous, I’ve had to buy backup toothpaste. Also, I often find products that aren’t mine being put with my stuff. WTH.

@Pinkstuffz:

I usually shower at night, not in the mornings. If I showered the previous night, then I don’t think I need to take another shower again in the mornings.

People who look at you like you’re insane when you ask them to be a little more quiet when they are chasing each other around and screaming at 3am in the middle of the week.

People who don’t wash their hands after using public bathrooms.

People who don’t flush the toilet…?

People who talk during lecture the entire ****ing time.

People who ask dumb questions from the lecture 3-4 weeks ago. The professor has office hours, please use them. <3

:)

I meant that they are people who need the shower and end up polluting the class with their unbearable odor. My 8am class has closed windows.
