What are your first impressions on these situations?

Case 1:

Kid has a 4.0 uw gpa but scored 3s on 4 AP tests, got a 1900 on the SAT, and got mid-600s on 2 SAT IIs. He took 4 AP classes/tests and 2 SAT IIs total.

Case 2:

Kid has a 3.4 uw gpa but scored 5s on 4 AP tests, got a mid-2200 on the SAT, and got 800s on 2 SAT IIs.

What would be your first impression for each case? Kid who goes to an easy school or kid who's a bad test taker for case 1, and kid who goes to a hard school or kid who's smart but lazy for case 2. Just wondering, because I know that the case 1 kid would probably get the benefit of doubt and be labeled a poor test taker, but if that's so for the case 2 kid.

Well if the kid goes to an extremely hard/competitive school, then he would get the benefit. Laziness is a completely different thing. It also depends on how many AP classes were offered to the 4.0 UW (who took only 4).
