If proof of vax status is the same as it is for Hawaii, there will be a website where you’ll upload the card, along with filling in very specific information, and it will all be checked against the database to ensure accuracy. It’s not as daunting as it sounded before I actually did it. But yes, many t’s to cross and i’s to dot. For Hawaii travel each traveler 18 years + must have their own account and e-mail log in, no sharing. So consider that you might need to open a couple of free “burner” yahoo or gmail accounts…On FB there are travel boards for different parts of the world, there may be one for Vienna…I’d start looking around now for some online bulletin board type resources; the Hawaii one was my lifeline as we made our way through their travel requirements.
I would definitely go, the spring will likely be the next lull and who knows what will happen later in the year. There is an EU certificate with a QR code that you show in restaurants etc. (a lot like the system in parts of California). At least in France it took 5 mins in a pharmacy to get the certificate upon showing the (original) US card and paying a fee (36 Euros in that case). Other countries may have different ways to get the pass (possibly online or at other locations).
Keep an eye on this site:
Yet one more reason to avoid cruising - your ship might get arrested.
Oh jeeze. What next?
If anyone arrests the plane we’ll be on, at least do it on a tropical island…
We went to Argentina years ago. It is lovely! If you can, go to Iguazu Falls. That place makes Niagara seem like a trickle. Argentina- good steak and good wine.
Trying to book tix to help out the kids/grandkids on the other coast. We fly Delta and the fares are crazy and not moving
My S is a wizard at getting good fares and great seats on his bookings. I’m always amazed at him. My D is good but S is on a different plane from most folks I know. He mostly flies United and happily switches his flights to get his free upgrades to 1st class. I guess his key is being flexible and having some status on United.
I have a trip planned to a part of Mexico where a friend has been wintering for a number of years. We are staying in the same compound, but in separate apartments. Last weekend I was supposed to leave, but she came down with Covid symptoms yet tested negative. I postponed. Today she tested positive, and is still moderately sick. I arrive in about 36 hours. We will distance, mask, and she should get back to baseline while I am there. I know how to protect myself and we will be together outside only. But this does put a damper on the anticipation as well as activities.
I am planning a trip to South Carolina and the fares are crazy. People should stop traveling.
We’ve decided not to reschedule our 2020 European trip to this summer. So bummed, but I just don’t want to chance it.
Since I turn 60 in July, I have asked DH for my present to be 10 days up at our cabin that month. In all the years we’ve had it, we’ve never stayed up there longer than three nights! Life just always seems to get in the way. So this will be awesome. I’m hoping my daughter will pick up our son and drive up for a few days.
We have a timeshare in the Caribbean. We asked to have this years week moved to next year, and they are flexible bc of the pandemic. So, next January/February we are hoping to spend 2 weeks there. Fingers crossed.
Fares are outrageous and on top of that Delta can’t seem to find my ecredits online. I have to use the Chat function. Took me 2.5 hours to book a trip and I still have credits left because my first set of flights were crazy expensive.
I’m so confused! I’m not doing any traveling myself right now but it seems that one minute I check this thread and I’m reading that fares are a bargain and the next minute they are crazy expensive!
Is it domestic that is expensive but not international? Has there been a sudden change in demand or just price? It would seem that we are now out of the holiday travel so I would think demand for tickets would not be as high. (though I guess people are booking perhaps for spring/summer/fall?)
@abasket - D2 just booked flights to meet H and I in Colorado to ski next month. She is flying out of San Diego to Denver then leaves from Steamboat Springs (very small airport) back to San Diego. Her round trip cost was just $185 which I thought was very reasonable.
Mine was to Florida-all of the flights I booked to Florida from January to March have been more expensive than normal.
Delta will let you use up to 4 ecredits on one ticket purchase
Travel folks, how do you check in for a flight at a kiosk when you’re bringing checked luggage? We rarely have any. Do I need to go to the regular line instead of the kiosk? AA if it matters. We’ll have to pay (I think) for the bag. Their site says it’s free to certain Caribbean destinations, but I don’t see a list.
Do curbside and avoid the line.
