I got into iowa and a few other schools and am trying to decide. What do you think of UI??

For what it is worth, my son looked at Iowa and really liked it – beautiful campus, with the Mississippi river running between the two sides of campus (health sciences on one side, most of rest of undergrad on other), gorgeous old buildings, pretty nice college town. A lot of Chicago area kids, it seemed. Honors program looked excellent. Merit money for instate and out of state kids, if stats are high enough.

Iowa is an entirely respectable, large, research university, like many of its Big Ten peers. It’s not a distinguished, first-tier national research university, of course, but it’s well reputed and will place its top undergraduates into excellent postgraduate and professional schools.

Of course, it won’t be in isolation that you are considering Iowa. You will be considering it in comparison to other schools, should you get admitted to any others, and comparing net price, academic strengths and weaknesses that are relevant to your interests, and other criteria.

Next time you go to The University of Iowa please note that it is not located near the Mississippi River.

It is the Iowa river that splits the campus. The Mississippi river is about 60 miles east of Iowa City.
