What bcmp grades do med schools care most about?

I know that your BCMP (or BCPM depending on who you ask) GPA can make or break your chances for medical school admission. Here's my question, since I've been hearing a lot of conflicting things at my school: do medical schools look at your overall BCMP (lower+upper division) or just the lower div premed prep stuff (gen chem, gen o-chem, gen phys...you get the idea)?

Originally, I thought it was the former, but some of my friends are absolutely convinced it's the latter. If it is the former, then well, I'm screwed 8 ways to Sunday. If not, then I should be okay.

I remember BDM saying something about not taking some advanced chem course because it doesn't look good at med schools whatsoever and it is hard to get an A, thus hurting your BCPM. Judging by this (based on my memory), I would say it is the former.

Overall BPCM GPA meaning all of the science classes you've taken.
