A fixie or a beach cruiser? What do more students ride at ucsb and which one would be more convenient

I have returned. Bye-bye 666 posts!

Anyways, get a fixie.

Beach cruisers are notoriously slow, and cumbersome on bike paths.

Fixie’s, meanwhile, are efficient, light (good for carrying it up/down stairs), and are minimal in space-consumption when you store it in your place.

LISTEN TO ME. …

yesssssssssssss get a fixie. I totally regret getting a beach cruiser, except for the fact that it has neon green wheels so it’s easy to find.

I have a beach cruiser and I love it. It’s a one speed so I don’t have to worry about what gear I’m in (which is good for me because I have no idea how or when to shift gears). You get to and from places fast enough. People tend to go way faster than they actually need to between classes. I’ve never been late to a class because my bike was too slow, even if I had back to back classes. Plus, The way you’re positioned on a beach cruiser is much more comfortable for me than a fixie. Plus my bikes purple and super easy to find in any bike rack.

Nobody worries about gears. . .

Don’t that abysmal bike rider who rides their beach cruiser side-by-side on the lane, which results in a bike-train on a crowded day.

Just don’t.

fixies are faster which is definitely nice. just make sure you have a good u-lock because there is a higher chance for it to get stolen

fixies:

-no suspension
-no gears
-no comfort (you look like you’re being bent over and *****)
-cannot coast (you will suck/die on hills, especially if your chain breaks)
-people use it as a fashion statement and it’s god awfully annoying to see people using it some sort of token of individuality
-illegal to sell through retail according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission since it has no brake (but not enforced in IV)
-newbies may allow pedal to hit ground in a turn and crash
-expensive?? and stealable, especially in IV

Swayed by keltix’s anti-fixie campaign?

GET A ROADBIKE INSTEAD!
