what books have you been reading?

"Everyone should read Slaughterhouse Five. It's amazing."

That is a great book. You should probably check out Catch 22.

Currently I'm reading Scar Tissue which is the autobiography of Anthony Kiedis, the lead singer of the Red Hot Chilly Peppers. It's a very good, interesting read.

finished "The Kite Runner" and read "Mapp & Lucia" (by E.F Benson - anyone read this before?). Starting Plato's "Republic".

Pushing on the classics....

I'm reading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Pronouncing the author's name in a weird Spanish accent is pretty fun. :)

I'm reading a few right now...

"A Long Way Down" by Nick Hornby (just finished, actually)
"On Beauty" by Zadie Smith
"The Rebel Sell" by Potter & Heath (non-fiction! yay!)

And yes, I'm rereading Harry Potter before #7 comes out, because I'm that cool even though I've read them all a million times... currently halfway through #5. Oh, but it is nice to read something light after work, which for me involves lots of heavy reading for my legal research project.

Edit: If you want classics and like Shakespeare... read Hamlet (if you haven't already), and then read Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. It's great. Pride and Prejudice is also a great favorite (and not just because of Colin Firth, haha, the book is good too), as is Catcher in the Rye. Required reading, imo.

Agree. I am finding M. Shelley's Frankenstein quite entertaining.

i just finished kiterunner too, it was soo sad =(

and yech i hated shelleys frankenstein!

Working on Slaughterhouse-Five and some stuff on Roman history

Fiasco by Thomas Ricks. and i thought my opinion of the administration could not go lower. wow.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

I read that book this past year. I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't procrastinated and had to rush through it. Tells a pretty good story, though.

Me, I'm not reading a single intellectual book right now. I slaved the whole year away and I'm treating myself to chick lit. Historical romances are my favorite. I'm also re-reading all the Harry Potter books in prep for the new one in July. So pretty much nothing but mindless reading for me.

crime and punishment, and when I get tired of that I go back to re-reading slaughterhouse 5. that vonnegut really knew his stuff!

An American Tragedy (Theodore Dreiser) was one of the best books I've ever read.

Also, I enjoyed The Awakening

Tight now I'm reading Brave New World by Huxley. So far I love it.

Last week I read Lolita. It was amazing, and I highly recommend it-- it's very dark but if you can get past that it's really, really beautiful.

Anyone who likes Vonnegut should read Sirens of Titan. Excellent Book.

The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama

LiveInLove115: I loved Lolita too! It's extremely well written.

Vonnegut.

So good.

A Clash of Swords by George RR Martin.. Great book

anyone read alice's adventures in wonderland? is it a book that kids our age (high school/college) can still enjoy?
