I've decided to start reading some classics to not only pick up strong examples for possible SAT Essay Prompts from literature, but also help my CR score go up. Which books would give me characters/situations to draw upon for the strongest and most relevant examples to use for possible SAT Writing Prompts? Some I've already decided on (these books are also generally applicable for learning common SAT Vocabulary):
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-Great Gatsby
-1984
-Of Mice and Men
-Lord of the Flies
Any other exceptionally good ones?

Ok before I recommend a book, honestley, this isn’t the best way to go about vocab learning. I’m not sure if you have heard this before, but it is really just slow and inefficient, so you should really try and go through direct hits and the PR hit parade. Both are solid. But if you are adamant about your methods, try catch-21

I’m not using them for vocab, that was just a side note. I already have Direct Hits and don’t plan on getting anything else.

Oh sorry I just assumed that was the reason, I didnt even read ur thread, my mistake… Anyway, if u need essay help go see “how to write a 12 essay in 10 days” or something like that in the best of sat section.

Tale of Two Cities
put something of shakespeare up in there
do the Ursula Le Guin books / Philip K. Dick books count as good examples?

Brave New World is a good one.

Lol I didnt really like Brave New World…

My recommendations would be:
the Iliad + Odyssey
Machiavelli - The Prince
More - Utopia
Jane Austen - Mansfield Park

Im not too sure they will be that helpful to SAT essays, but they are pretty good reads that (if you can somehow weave them in) will probably impress the readers
