Hi, I'm a junior , currently living in CA. I know USC has a great music program but i see a lot of people not recommending it for music business/music production stuff.
Idc if it's a easy school or competitive , do you guys know any school that has a great music program for a future music producer? And if I want to major in that field, do i have to prepare a portfolio?

Can you explain a little more about what you want to study and do for work?

Music production, music producer, can mean different things to different people I think. Do you work with electronics/technology or are you more interested in administration/management?

Off the cuff, without knowing more, I would suggest maybe looking into Cal Arts (Herb Alpert School) http://calarts.edu/academics/programs-degrees or Long Beach (Bob Cole Conservatory) <a href=“Bob Cole Conservatory of Music @ CSULB”>http://www.csulb.edu/depts/music/. And look at all the websites for all of the U of CA’s and CA State schools, for starters.

I know the East Coast better than the West, which others here know well.

I work with electronics/ technology! Thank you for the info!

OP - does it have to be a CA university? Below are some colleges that I know of that offers the Music Industry/business program. But I am not sure about the audition requirement for all the schools
